One of the advantages of having a network of friends who look out for each other is that from time to time I am PM'd about new developments by these friends who have located items for me. This week, it happened twice.

I logged in to afk in our guildhall three days ago, and within a minute, three of my guildies told me that there was a r12 -2-2 Aegis for sale in Kamadan.

But I want to specially thank Emma for locating the SoTW from one of her friend's contacts, putting me in contact and staying away from the proceedings until the shield was acquired. It has quickly become one of my favourite shields because -1/stance is SO DAMN rare.

Listen up friends, I have a story to tell--

A long, long time ago I was a Ranger player. I liked bows, and spent the first 100k I ever earned on a Q9 Stormbow (how tacky, I know). I had an Ele from factions, but I never played her. In High School I started to get back into Guild Wars a bit. I began to play my Ele, and I liked her. I got a cool, shiny BDS, and soon she was my main.

Then, I bought an idiosyncratic item. To be specific it was a Q8 Fire Wayward Wand, 14 E-1 / 10% HSR.

It was cool! An oldschool Q8 Caster wand? A rare and cool skin no less. I don't remember what I payed for it, but roughly seven years ago I did post an ask thread on Guru wondering about a Price Check.

I eventually sold it for 50k or so (a month or two later) to a person I met in-game, named Aris, and thought nothing of it.

I didn't know it back then, but that one item kindled a fire in me; a burning, ravenous desire. Before I knew it, I wanted to become a collector.

I started small, but I knew I needed to fund my collection. I began to run people through missions and VQs to get capital, and quickly became one of the best at the time (at least in my opinion). I started making money pretty quickly, and I was ready to make my first real purchase.

A trader I met named Pleikki sold me a Q10 20 20 Platinum Fire Staff (which, before botting, to my knowledge, was close to one of a kind). I met Z-Split and Brave Kubanan and bought my three next items; a Q9 20 20 Fire Celestial Staff, a Q9 Fire 20 / +5e^50 Wayward Wand, a Q9 Fire 15-1 / 20 HCT Fire Celestial Scepter.

Before I knew this modest collection began to grow. I began to trade more, and customize the things I really loved (following a hacking of my other account that lost a very precious Bo staff). As the years went by, I acquired a number of Fire Wands, Staves, Offhands (not to mention some shields and swords)!

I've come a long, long way since then. I've made friends I haven't and won't forget; seen and owned items I never thought I would, and attempt to make myself a legacy among people I think are legends of this game.

I own or have owned a 20 20 Fire Staff of every skin other than Dragon (including, interestingly enough 3x Q9 Zodiacs and Q10 Platinums and 2x Q9 Celes).

I have 10 different Q8 Fire Wands (20/x or 10/X), including two matching 10/+5e Zodiacs and a 20 / 9 Dragon's Breath.

I have a number of prenerf Q8 10 10 or 10 19 Fire Staves (and one Air!)

I have countless Q9 Fire Wands, only missing a perfect 20/X Platinum Wand.

I have a number of fantastic offhands, including a perfect Q9 20 HSR Fire / AR+5 Paper Fan.

I have had some close to unique items--a triple mod fire wand, a prenerf Q8 Dead skin Fire Staff, a Q8 +5e Celestial Sword, a Q7 FDS (which I sold).

On top of all these, I can add two more items:

A Perfect Q10 20 / 20 Fire Wand (one of the few I've ever seen):



And (after years since I lost mine) a 20 20 Fire Bo Staff:



But, more than that, today is a special day. A day where a collection comes full circle, and nearly so close to actual completion.

I just got back the item that started it all; the item that, years ago, kindled in me that burning passion for this wonderful game--my useless and imperfect, but still so beautiful Q8 Wayward Wand.

And this time, its not going anywhere.



Thank you to Aris for helping me get this item back (not to mention the 20 20 Fire Wand, Paper Fan, Q8 Zodiac Scepters and many other items). Thank you to all the people who have become true and endearing friends. The memories I have playing this game are something I actively cherish, and the Guild Wars community is one that is so truly rewarding.

Thanks to everyone whose helped me make this collection, which started as a silly dream, into a reality.
